AMAZING show at SAIT on the 22nd of January. You are a very talented band and I absolutely love your music… very catchy and interesting. Very cool that you are Canadian. I will definitely be playing your music for my friends and family and taking the next chance to see you live. Will you be posting more dates on your
Hey Amanda,
Thank you for coming to the show! It was great to see so many people out! We are always posting and updating our tour dates, just keep checking the myspace at myspace.com/mothermotherspace or the website.
Hope to see you out to our show again soon!
MM
Can we still get tickets for the Gateway show ANYWHERE?? there are 4 of us and only two tickets and we came all the way from lake louise!!
Dear ETL,
OMG! We really hope you guys got some tix and were able to come to the show! We haven’t had a chance to check the questions until just now so we didn’t know you were in dire need!
We sincerely hope you made it,
MM
Got any good ‘C’ words to go with Columbus? Couldn’t think of anything comparable to sleepless in Seattle. Oh-well. So my girlfriend introduced me to your tunage a few months ago. We went to see you in Cleveland. It was incredible. One of the best, hands down. Ya’ll put on a great live show. We are both anxiously awaiting your new album. Thought I’d be nosy and ask for an ETA but we’ll be patiently waiting whether we have a date or not. Just hear my request when you tour again, please oh pretty god damn please, make a pit stop in columbus! you will be well received with out a doubt. Cleveland would do as well. you’re well worth the cruise. You guys are great. Best of luck doin what you do. ps I support the animal theme. Go tigers go! (you should feel like a wonder bra, bein all supported and what not)
Great shows you guys. I’m just wondering what happened to the songs Fat Kids and Mama Told Me? I found ‘em funny and moving, respectively.
Dear Marc,
Although Mama Told Me and Fat Kids are cherished MM repertoire, we have a hard time fitting in songs like that to a set these days. The band’s sound has grown so much since MM’s beginnings and some things just don’t seem to fit anymore. Those are songs that will be on the original “Mother” album forever and can be enjoyed in that way; You never know, perhaps we’ll bust them out from the back catologue sometime when it feels appropriate.
Thanks for your question,
MM
Hello MM, I am a die hard fan. When I first saw you at Vancouver’s Virgin fest in 2007 I fell in LOVE with your sound! Ever since, I’ve been a little obsessed. I live in Vancouver, but unfortunately can’t get over there often enough to see any of your shows since. I do believe you have met one of my friends Mike K, he lives on the island and we school together. Anyway, to the point: On the 14th I have arrangements to fly to Toronto only a few hours after your show in Yale town and will probably only catch the first bit of it and since Oh Ana and Dirty Town are my all time faves from you guys I was hoping you could play them (or one) as early as possible in your set. I would practically die from excitement if you did and promise to sing along to all the songs! Also from reading a bit of this page I noticed that there are some songs (Simply Simple, Eureka etc.) that are not on your albums. Will they be on the new one? Are you going to release them as singles? Love from your always faithful fan, JC P.S. A shout out would be SICK.
Hey Jenn,
We have arranged to play Dirty Town for you early in the set on the 14th just for you! Unfortunately we can’t fit in Oh Ana as well, but perhaps next time. Thank you for being such a die hard fan, we truly appreciate it!
Simply Simple and Eureka are new songs and are being considered for the new album. We’re recording in March so we shall see!
See you soon Jenn,
MM
Hello MM- I am a new fan…just got turned on to your tunes by a friend of mine. But I absolutely LOVE every note of every song you have released. I am an aspiring theater director, and your music has truly inspired me and filled my reeling theatrical imagination with new ideas. I was wondering if you guys had every considered doing a full length theatrical production of you music? Your narative, prolific style really lends itself to the art form. Listening to your music puts vivd pictures in my mind that I really feel would explode onstage. Just an idea. And hey, if you ever are in the market for a director, let me know:) Oh and when you tour the states, make sure you hit up Minneapolis! We are so far north we are practically Canadians too!
Hello Natalie,
We haven’t really considered turning our stuff into a theatrical production yet. We are extremely consumed with the musical side of things most of the time. It would be hard to find time at this point in our careers to do such a thing, but it would be awesome if it happened some day. I think all the band members would be interested in seeing what that production would look and sound like.
Thanks for your question,
We will keep Minneapolis in mind!
MM
Hello! I don’t have a question for you today but I just got home from your last free show in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics. I just wanted to say that I have been in love with your sound since 2008 and you did not disappoint tonight. It really was too bad that the crowd was not conducive to having a chill good time and you had to end your set early. I just want to say I am glad you came out and tried to play a great show. I appreciate that and I hope to see you when you play next in Vancouver after your new album is recorded. Good luck in the studio! I can’t wait to buy your new album! Victoria
Hey , I saw you guys at VFest with pearl jam this summer (best day ever) I live in kimberley BC, me and my gf are huge fans and would love to see you in the east kootneys someday, i realize your like never home and probably super jet legged (bus legged) But i think somewhere in the near future a stop in cranbrook would be cool? Also is there any snowboard video parts featuring a song of yours, I dont know if you ski or ride but mother mother is The best music to ride to. Body of years or Miles should be shaun whites next vid part……asking questions in the form of statements… – George
Hey guys! I don’t have a question I just wanted to say how much I love the band. I’ve seen you three times now (once opening for Sam Roberts, once headlining, and once opening for Matthew Good) and every time I am blown away. I can’t wait for the new record and I hope you will be back in the Niagara region during the next tour! PS: Ryan, although I do have five blurry iPhone photos of us, the one from the Hamilton show actually turned out pretty decent! Somber face and everything. It’s in the album on the facebook group.
Hey guys! You’re amazing. Any chance of an Australian tour sometime/anytime? It would make my year, and most of my friends years also. Keep up the good work
Dear Rose,
We would LOVE to come to Australia!! We just need good people like you to spread the word to all your friends about us, then there will be a demand for us over there. Don’t hesitate to bug your local radio stations to play us. Just keep telling people about us and hopefully we’ll be able to make the trip soon.
Thanks Rose,
MM
Hey guys, come home to Quadra to play a concert again someday. You have so many fans here! <3
Dear Emily,
Hopefully we will get a chance to play on Quadra soon, we always love to play the “Home Town” shows. We will be touring extensively after the release of our next record (hopefully in Sept. 2010). Keep checking our tour dates to watch for a show coming your way.

We’ll see you there,
MM
Hey guys, I met you folks not too long back on the Matt Good tour in London, ON, and just wanted to say that i really appreciate your music, and you guys deserve how well your doing. Be Sure to come back to London Soon! Sincerly, Aistis
Thank you Aistis!
I remember talking to you, and you are lovely!
See you again,
MM
Hey me and my buddy Isaiah wanted to ask you something please make another album.
Hey Aidan and Isaiah,
We are currently working on pre-production for a new album which will hopefully be released by the fall of 2010.
Hope to see you two at a show sometime!
MM
Hey us again what does your song body mean?
Hey again Aidan and Isaiah,
Like any song, “Body” is open to interpretations, but to me it is about feeling uncomfortable and overwhelmed in your own skin. It’s somebody at the end of their rope with their physical body. “I’ve grown tired of this body, a cumbersome and heavy body,” I think most can relate to the feeling of heaviness and awkwardness when living inside a body, I know I can. There’s an element of playfulness as well in the song, “Take my tongue, go have some fun,” these types of phrases were written to create images and to accentuate the picture of shedding or giving away your body parts because you are sick to death of them. This song truly means what it says…
Thanks for your question,
MM
Hey, just saw you guys in Surrey a couple nights ago! I was blown away by your show. You guys sound amazing on your cd but even more amazing live! So much fun too. I was just wondering if you guys are going to play some more vancouver shows [since it is your hometown] this coming summer??
Dear Mallory,
Thank you for the compliments! We had a great time performing in Surrey the other night. The crowd was unbelievable! Nothing is planned yet for another Vancouver show this year, but it is likely that something will happen after the release of our new album in the fall. Before then, there will quite likely be a couple of Vancouver Island shows, so if you feel like setting sail on the beautiful BC Ferries you could see us before then.
Keep checking our Myspace page for show details.
MM
Hi guys, I was delighted to hear a couple weeks ago that you were playing shows during the Olympics. I went to your show at Holland Park, not being too familiar with you, but having heard songs like Hayloft and O my heart through friends (And totally diggin them bee tee dubs). But as soon as I experienced the first song of your show, with the live energy and passion you guys exude, I grew to appreciate your band fully. I had actually come to the show after spending a full day in Vancouver and living on three days of very little sleep. Long story short, I felt like passing out during Said the Whale’s performance a couple hours before you. So, I pushed my way out of the crowd and went and sat on the floor. My only goal at that point was to rest up through Hey Ocean’s set so I could muster up the strength to rock out to your set at 10:00. As I stood there for an hour listening to you I was getting progressively tired and sick. I had it in me to rock out to your upbeat numbers and during your slow songs I just closed my eyes and and sang along as you soothed me through feelings of nausea and dizziness. Haha. From a musician to a great band: You have such a complex understanding of musicality, harmony and technique and stage presence. Your show was a polished performance mixed with raw talent; the perfect mixture. I am very proud to know that you guys are from the same area as I grew up in. I am currently studying music at the university level. I have dabbled in contemporary song writing and performing, being classically trained in piano, and you guys are my latest inspiration and reminder as to why music is the path carved for my live. Just thought I’d share that with you. ps. I would have loved to stay afterward and tried to be one of the lucky people who had a chance to meet you all and get autographs, but I wasn’t doing so well. Haha. Next time! Thanks for reading this novel of a fan letter -Katie
Hi MM! I’m a huge fan of yours, I have been since Touch Up. I bought both your albums and am eagerly awaiting your next doubtlessly amazing album. My friends and I are in a band and wanted to cover your song,
Hey Dominic,
We would be delighted for you to cover “O MY HEART.” It’s always an honour when somebody likes your song enough to learn and play it. Please be our guest and we’d love to hear it sometime!
Thanks for your question Dominic,
MM
HI MM! I heard a live version
Hi Tess,
Unfortunately you can’t buy “Love To Death.” It will only be available on the CBC website on the live broadcast you heard. The good news is you can listen to it anytime you like there!
Thanks for your question,
MM
I’ve been a musician and semi-professional performer for 40 years. I have always been a big fan of RadioHead, XTC, Richard Thompson, Beatles, and more recently, Mother Mother. I hear a level of sophistication and maturity in your songwriting that puts you in a rare class of talent. Keep it up! Carry the torch!
MM- you’re a great band and I’ve come to really appreciate your work. But I must say- I am very intrigued by Ryan. He is both magic and mystery. After a few conversations with the man, I am feeling the need to find out more. What can you tell me about him? Date of birth would be helpful (happy belated, or upcoming, fellow Sadge). Btw, is my reaction one in a million, or one of millions?
Dear nameless girl,
Ryan is indeed both magic and mystery. The people that know him the best still feel that way sometimes. I suppose that answers the question that you are not the only one who thinks so.
He was born on November 24th.
Thank you for your question,
MM
Saw you for the first time opening for Matt Good at the Centre in Vancouver. Since then, I’ve bought O My Heart on iTunes and have started to learn how to play the guitar, starting of course with the intro to wrecking ball
My question is this. Will you be coming out with a blu-ray disc of a live show?
Hey Blake,
It’s great that you are learning Wrecking Ball! Good for you for taking up the guitar. We definitely should have some sort of live DVD done, it’s just something that hasn’t happened yet. As soon as it does we’ll make sure it’s easy for you to get your hands on it.
Thanks for your question,
MM
When will you be in Victoria next? I saw you at Keep the Beat Nelson in 2007 and would love to see you again in my new home town!
Hi Melanie,
We may possibly be playing a show or 2 in early June in Victoria. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it is in the works. Check our Myspace page for details, we will post them as soon as they are confirmed.
Hope to see you at the show(s)
MM
A gang of Nelsonites missed the Cranbrook concert due to the flu, any chance of heading back this way? Would love to see you here in Nelson!
Hi Sherri,
We’re sorry to hear about your flu bug! The show in Cranbrook was great and I do believe we met some lovely people from the Nelson area. We plan to tour Canada after the release of our next album in the fall, and will definitely be stopping somewhere near you. Keep checking our myspace or website for new tour dates.
See you in the fall,
MM
first of all i saw you guys last in calgary and thought you were spectacular to say the least and was wondering if this time while your here if you will be playing verbatim?
Dear Matthew,
Thank you for coming out to the Matt Good show in Calgary, and thank you for coming to see us again! We weren’t going to play Verbatim, but now that you have specially requested it, we have decided to play it just for you…
See you at the show,
MM
First off, I’d like to join in the chorus of your adoring fans by echoing my undying love for Mother Mother. it sounds cliche, I know, to say that a band has changed my life, makes me sort of feel like a teenager swooning. BUT: 1) I like being young at heart. and 2) It’s the truth, you guys really have changed my life. The first time I heard Touch Up in my friend’s backyard swimming pool in 2007, I stopped giggling and swimming, and FROZE.
Hello Stephanie,
Thank you for your support and fanship of the band, it means the world to us. You are indeed correct about some of the lyrics in “Eureka.” We do say “I wanna scream eureka,” but “I want a senorita” is not in there. You wouldn’t be the first to have mistaken that. We will definitely be playing Eureka on the night of the St. Catherines show and we look forward to seeing you there.
Again, thank you for your support!
MM
Hello Mother Mother! First of all I’d like to say your music is excellent. I wouldn’t have even known about it though, if it wasn’t for my friend Amberlyn. She is an adoring fan of yours and has been for quite some time now! The reason for which I am sending you an email, might seem kind of silly, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. Hopefully you will actually get around to reading it! As I just mentioned, my friend Amberlyn..is an amazing person. She’s been through a lot, more than someone her age should and has been forced to grow up faster than most kids. (She’s almost 17) But she moves through life as if nothing wrong has ever occurred, she smiles and she deals with it. She’s more compassionate than anyone else I know. She volunteers all sorts of time at various different places. Like churches, feeding homeless people, helping out at a nursing home with the elderly. It amazes me. She never expects anything in return, and doesn’t mind at all when she receives nothing for the things she does. When she’s upset she listens to you guys. When she’s happy she listens to you guys. Like I mentioned, she is a HUGE fan of yours. Every time someone is discussing music, or bands or songs, she always has to bring you guys up. Instructing everyone to look you up online and have a listen. Or she’ll whip out her iPod and force them to hear it. She’s even had your music played on our morning announcements at school a few times, and at a dance or two. So, on December 17th you guys are coming to Hamilton, Ontario, with Matt Good. She’s going to be attending the show, and guess what? It’s her birthday. SO, what I’m really wanting to ask, is MAYBE you could wish her a happy birthday? It would truly make her life, and I honestly believe she deserves to have that done. I hope you actually got around to reading this, and more than that I hope you would consider my request. (: (She’s completely unaware by the way.) Anyway, take care! -Kyrie.
Dear Kyrie,
It sounds like your friend is a lovely person and we would be more than happy to wish her a happy b day on the 17th! I will personally make sure it happens! Obviously you are a wonderful friend and it will be our pleasure to do this for Amberlyn. When you see her next, give her a big hug and let her know we think she rocks….
Make sure to come out during the intermission after our set in Hamilton, we’ll be hanging out at the merch booth to say hi to fans and such.
Thank you for being such a devoted friend and fan (and thank Amberlyn too)!
MM
We’ll see you in Hamilton

Dear Kyrie,
We would be delighted to announce your friend Amberlyn’s birthday on the 17th! Thank you and thanks to your wonderful friend for being so supportive of our music and of one another. It sounds as though you two are beautiful friends.
Take care and we’ll see you in Hamilton on the 17th!
love,
MM
Hello. The song,
Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your kind words regarding “Try To Change.” We really love the song and are glad that you found some connection and meaning in it. As a songwriter, it is very satisfying to know a song has touched somebody other than yourself.
Thank you,
MM
Hey guys! I just saw your show in North Bay tonight. You guys were incredible. One of the best bands I’ve seen live! I’m always impressed and inspired by bands who clearly don’t use vocal modifiers. My question is, would you consider touring with The New Pornographers or other western based bands, outside of BC? I would die to see that!
Thanks!
Hey Alyssa,
Thank you for your question, and yes, we would consider touring with the New Pornographers! In the touring world things just kind of happen based on bands’ schedules. If something matched up between us and them and all the stars aligned, we would love to take the opportunity to tour with them. You never know what the future may hold…
Hope to see you soon,
MM
Hey guys! Just wanted to say i’m a HUGE fan! Ever since I saw you with Dragonette in Canmore, AB in 2007! I then saw you in Saskatoon over the summer and will be going again to see you with Matthew Good. Your music has really inspired me, I can truely say I love everyone one of your songs on both of your albums. You have songs for every one of my moods (I have tons). Anyway I am just kind of curious what happened to Deborah Jean? No matter what your music will always be amazing, I just find myself asking this question often so I figured id ask you guys! Can’t wait to see you Nov. 19. xoxoxoxo
Hi Cyndi,
Thank you for your question and for being a HUGE fan! As for Debra-Jean, both her and the band came to realize we were walking two separate musical paths, so we decided to part ways. Deb is working on her solo career and is doing great! Check her out @ myspace.com/debrajeanspace
As for the new MM, we’re better than ever, creating beautiful sounds and sharing them with the world.
Thanks again for your question, we look forward to seeing you on the Matt Good tour,
MM
Hey Guys, Just wanted to congratulate you on the Bucky win!! That’s fantastic and Very deserved!! I am very excited for the next you get to our side of the continent. Last time was incredibly memorable for all of us. Take care and wishing you all a great holiday and New Year season. Chuck from Ithaca Oh Yeah.. when’s the next album coming out?
Hey Chuck!
We’re pretty excited about our big Bucky win too! It was awesome to see you out at the show in upstate New York! Next time we will come to Ithaca! The next record is being recorded in March, and released by the fall of 2010.
Can’t wait to see you next time Chuck, thank you for being such an avid MM supporter.
Cheers,
MM
Hey guys, I gotta question for you! Are you guys coming out to Victoria or Vancouver anytime soon because I want to see you live sooo bad but your tour doesn’t say your coming this way anytime soon… Anyway let me know, thanks!
Hey Johnny B.
We did a whole bunch of shows in the west at the beginning of our tour and won’t be playing there again until the new year. We started the tour in Abbotsford, and did a few shows on the island, and then 2 in Vancouver before we headed east. We’re sorry you missed them, but we won’t stay away for long. Keep checking our website and myspace for info on upcoming shows… there is sure to be one in your area soon.
Take care,
MM
Hey MM! Just came back from the your incredible show in Halifax at the Cunard Centre! By far the best concert I’ve ever been too. Totally and completely worth the 5 hour trip up! I met Ryan with a couple of my friends before your set and it was great to be able to talk to you. Thanks so much for coming over to chat, made my night! (Pretty sure my friends are getting sick of me telling the story how we met you ha!) Just wondering when you’ll be coming to the east coast again? Hopefully it will be you guys as the main act! And are you thinking of doing Evolve fest again? (because I’d so be there!) Thank you for your time! You guys are incredible artists! -Laura B
Hi Laura,
We had a great time in Halifax, thank you for coming to the show. We hope to get to the east coast this year but nothing is set in stone yet. We release our new album in the fall and will be touring extensively, hopefully bringing a headlining show to you! Keep checking our tour dates on our myspace or website…
See you at the next show,
MM
Hey MM! Not really a question, just wanted to say that I saw your show with Matt Good in Winnipeg on Saturday, and was blown away by your amazing performance. I wished your set was longer. Bands that sound as good recordings when live, if not better are few and far between, and it speaks directly to your talent and musicality! Bravo! Look forward to seeing you again. -jv
Hey Mother Mother, I have two very random questions for you. Whats everyone’s middle name, and does anyone in the band play Little Big Planet?
Hey Trista,
Ryan’s middle name is Lee, Molly’s is Patricia, Ali is Alis’ middle name because his first name is actually Mohammed, Jasmin’s is Willow.
Unfortunately nobody plays “Little Big Planet.” Perhaps it’s something we should look into!
Thanks for your questions,
MM
Hey Ryan, Jasmin, Molly, Jeremy and Ali… We just wanted to send you guys a quick note and let you know again we thought your set in saskatoon was phenomenal. We only wish the set could have been longer. Also, it was so great to meet you guys and get our shirts signed (we’re the dorks with the homemade mother mother shirts), we’ve been bragging to everyone about how awesome you guys were. And Matt Good should be thanking you, bc we drove up just to see you but we are definitely now fans of his as well. Have fun touring, can’t wait for your next album and tour in Sask
erica & kaitlin
Hey there … love your stuff. How about adding a small club gig while you’re in Toronto after the 19th. Dying to see you but not sure I want to see just a small set of yours and a big one of Matthew Good’s. What do you say??
Dear David,
We understand that if you are only coming to see us, you may be deterred due to our short set, but I assure you that we jam pack as many songs as we can into our time. Matt Good also puts on a superb live show and has an amazing band of talented musicians that are very much worth seeing.
Unfortunately, we can’t do any extra shows after the 19th because we have to get home to Vancouver for Christmas! Otherwise our moms will be very upset!
We will definitely do a headlining show in Toronto very soon, so if you’d like to hold out for that, we’ll probably see you in a few months!
Thanks David,
MM
Hey you guys
i just got your recent album ‘Oh My Heart’ from the San Jose Mercury News and I really like your music. I was just wondering if you guys will be coming to California to tour?
Hi Kevin,
Yes we will definitely stop in California on our next tour! Unfortunately we were just there on our last tour in August. We stopped in the usual spots… San Fransisco, and L.A. and we will be back next year after we make our new record. Hope you are somewhere close to these two fine cities and can make it out to our next show in the area. You can always check our myspace or this website for tour dates.
myspace.com/mothermotherspace
Thanks for your question!
MM
hey you guys are unreal, going to see you soon and i cannot wait! I was just wondering if you guys ever do meet and greets with fans because that would be amazing!
Dear Rae,
We apologize for the late response to this question. You would have already seen us play live, which means you may have come up and talked to us during the intermission- which answers your question! Yes, we always do our best to make time to talk to fans at shows. Hopefully we had a chance to say hello.
Thanks Rae,
MM
Hey! Loved the shows you played in Vic for Matt Good and Rifflandia. What are the chances of some more summer shows on the beautiful island? Perhaps some outdoor gigs? Thanks!
Hi Caleb,
We do plan on touring in the summer. We have a tentative plan to head over to the UK in June-ish after we make our new album. When we get back from the UK, hopefully we will get a chance to play some festivals before releasing our record. We always love to play on the island since it’s a place most of us call home. Keep checking our myspace or website to get our tour updates.
See you on the Island,
MM
HEY!!!! Lets start out with saying that my favorite songs are O My Heart, Wrecking Ball, Arms Tonite, Body, and Body of Years. So seeing that Mother Mother is one of my favorite bands, i checked out their website and was wondering if possibly there were any tours that might hit up Los Angeles or Santa Monica anytime soon, to my disappointment the tours generally only turn up in Canada and aren’t usually for minors (i’m 15 FYI) which really sucks. Another discouraging detail i found was that all your merchandise was either limited or out of stock. I have gotten a decent number of friends into Mother Mother and although I have been a fan for only a little over a year now, you guys are ranked in my top 4 best bands list along with Vampire Weekend, Modest Mouse, and Final Fantasy, this is how highly i think of you and your amazing music. It would be greatly appreciated if you could at least follow up on my last request to update your Store/merchandise. one last thought, when are you going to release a new album? Thanks for taking the time to listen to my thoughts. Your fan Aidan
Hey Aidan! Thank you for all of your questions, and for your very kind words. The bands you listed as your favorites are also some of our favorites so it’s nice to be ranked next to them in your mind.
We are often traveling/touring through the states and we played last month in L.A. and San Fransisco. I understand that some places are all ages in the states and some are not (bars that is)… I’m not sure exactly how it works but hopefully we’ll be able to play a show that you can attend very soon. We plan to head into the studio early next year and be touring by the spring/summer season. We will definitely be stopping in L.A. and San Fransisco on the next tour!
I have put out the word that we need to update our online store/merch, so hopefully that will be up and running soon.
Does that answer everything? Oh I hope so!
Be well Aidan, hope to hear from you again.
MM
Hey, guys! First of all, I wanted to let you know that there are people in Russia, who really enjoy what you do and would absolutely love to see you live one day
I also have a little question for you. There is an incredibly good female vocalist in Calgary looking for a band to work with. Her singing is beyond amazing. She is originally Russian, but her accent is very slight, especially, when she sings in English. Do you know any of the good bands that might be looking for a vocal? Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing you in Calgary for the third time on January, 22nd! Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year for all people involved in Mother Mother! I wish your next album to become platinum and get all the awards possible! You totally deserve it!
Dear Alisa,
Thank you so much for the sweet and kind words. We hope to tour extensively in Europe someday, so hopefully we can bring a show to you. I can’t think of any bands off of the top of my head in Calgary that are looking for a singer, but I’ll keep it in mind and run it by the other members of MM. We are very much looking forward to rocking out for you at the Gateway in Calgary… We’ll see you there!
MM
Hi Guys, I’ve recently discovered your music and I can say that I don’t remember being this excited about a band since Silverchair (Ryan reminds me of a younger Daniel Johns musically which is a ENORMOUS complement). My question is – Will you guys EVER come to St.John’s Newfoundland to play a gig? Much love!
Hi Kurt,
The answer is yes! Of course we will come to St. John’s at some point. We don’t have any dates there for this next tour but keep checking our tour dates on our website or myspace. Please call in to your local radio stations and request us, bother venue owners about booking us to come there. The more people that do these things, the more likely someone will want to book us in your area.
Thanks for your question Kurt, hope to see you in St. John’s soon!
MM
Hi Mother Mother! Just came back from your show tonight in DC. Had an awesome time! I go to a lot of concerts and I thought you guys put on one of the best live performances I have ever seen. I got a chance to meet you all after the show and I was pleased with your humility and kindness towards me and the other fans (not all bands are like that as you know…). Anyway, considering MM has such a great mix of different styles and sounds, I was curious to know what bands you all cite as musical influences? Personally, I hear some Pixies, some Talking Heads and a little bit of the Smiths. But that’s just me…Take care! Come through Virginia some time! David Ashton
Hey Dave,
Thanks for reaching out. DC was a definite highlight for us on this tour. The audience was beyond supportive, so thanks for your role in that.
You’re definitely right about the Pixies, Talking Heads and The Smiths. The Beatles are another big influence. Other bands/artists we enjoy are The Velvet Underground, Regina Spektor, Daniel Johnston, Led Zeppelin, and The Cinematic Orchestra – to name a few. Really, there are so many…
We hope to play Virginia sometime soon. Thanks again for your kind words.
See ya soon,
MM
Hi Mother Mother, I think you may have single handedly saved Rifflandia. Thank you for playing two more shows. You were amazing!!! both times. And if I could ask the strange question … what are your astrological signs?
Hi Ann,
Ryan is a Sagittarius, Jeremy is an Aries, Ali is a Libra, and Molly and Jasmin are both Aquarius…
Thank you for your question, and it was our pleasure to play more shows in Victoria…thank you for all the love!
MM
Hi Mother, Mother, It was really nice to meet you backstage at The Big Time Out in Cumberland, BC. My question is: At 10 years old, am I your youngest fan? Looking forward to the new album and hope I can get to see you again. Skyla
Hey Skyla!
It was really really awesome to meet you at the Big Time Out. I’m not completely sure if you are our youngest fan ever, but you are one of the youngest and certainly the COOLEST! Thank you for being such a great fan to us…
We hope to see you again soon,
love MM (Ryan, Molly, Jasmin, Ali, Jeremy)
hi my question is, every time I see you guys preform I’m really impressed with Ryans hair and was wondering, (as I need a hair cut myself quite badly at this point cause my hair dresser skipped town) if you point me to your hair dresser. thanks Merle P.s when deeply immersed in your music one day while in traffic, I realized it is isn’t just that its great music to listen to, it just like a play ground for the ears that just keeps coming with the best rides ever experienced. so thanks again for sharing all of your talents with all of us.
Hello Merle!
We are not able to give out private information about Ryan’s hairdresser, but we can say that she is a very gifted and beautiful angel that makes special coifs with her magic hands!
Good luck finding a stylist Merle… may the force be with you,
MM
Hi! I first heard your band on CBC last year and recently saw you live. I’m very picky about music and Mother Mother is by far the most impressive band I’ve heard live! I love your album as well. The lyrics to Hayloft are very interesting and I was wondering what inspired you to write them? Thanks!
Hi Danielle,
The inspiration for the lyrics to hayloft came from the guitar riff in the song. Ryan and the girls thought it sounded like “My daddy’s got a gun,” and the rest came from that line.
Thank you for coming out to our show!
Hope to see you again soon,
MM
How old is everyone in the band and how long have you each been playing music?
Dear Jessica,
Everyone in the band is between the ages of 10 and 80 years old. Ryan, Jasmin, and Jeremy have been playing music since early childhood. Ali started playing drums in his young adulthood, and Molly played piano when she was a kid and always sang, but not professionally until Ryan forced her to be in his band!
Thanks for your question,
MM
I had a few questions, that I unfortunately didn’t get to ask you in person. I was wondering what are you guy’s favourite band? And when Molly does win the Sexiest Musician Bucky Award, could she be ever so modest to thanks Nathan for believing in her? That would be pretty cool. Also, I was wondering why this tour is so zig zaggy across canada, when you guys are going up and down through ontario. Thanks guys, you guys were amazing in Barrie, I hope to see you guys back soon.
Hey Nathan,
We’re not sure why the tour was zig zaggy…Because we were the openers we just went with how the tour was booked by Matt’s people. There can be all kinds of reasons for booking a tour that way. Sometimes you need to be in a big city on a Friday or Saturday night, so some back and forth is necessary to fill up the schedule.
Thanks for your question,
MM
I just want to say that you guys are just awesome, i absolutely love you your music. I got to see you guys with Matt good in Saskatoon on November 19 and it was a great show. I bought the touch up CD and i must say it is just awesome. I also had a chance to meet you all and you guys are all so great to talk to, which is more then i can say for some other bands i have met. Thanks again for the wonderful music!!
I was just wondering, why do you call yourselves mother mother?
Hi Ryan,
We used to go by the name Mother, but upon being signed, our label advised us to change our name to avoid any legal issues that may have arisen due to the multitude of other bands in the world that called themselves Mother before we did.
At that point we changed the name to Mother Mother.
Thanks for your question,
MM
Just saw you guys in Thunder Bay tonight. Had no idea who you were before the show, went out and bought O My Heart right after. I think Matt Good has magic powers. This has happened with every opening band all 3 times I’ve seen him. You guys rock. Great energy on stage. Keep it up!
Mother Mother, Your music is captivating. You are a beautiful group of musicians and the soul behind your stuff is..well, ridiculous..in the best possible way. You’ve inspired me to create music out of concepts i never would have thought to venture. My question is this; as only a recently obsessed fan i’ve just only heard your recorded stuff, and i was wondering how has your sound changed with the addition of Jasmin Parkin as a vocalist/keyboardist, if indeed it has changed at all? Thank you Mothers for rocking our socks off, please please come to St. Catharines Ontario soon!! Much love.
Hi Holly,
Thanks for your kind words. We are honoured to hear that you find our music so inspiring.
In answer to your question: Yes, the sound is definitely a little different with the addition of Jasmin. While the general aesthetic of our sound is the same (primarily Ryan as the lead singer, with a lot of three-part harmonies and some shared leads), the texture of Jasmin’s voice is different, as is her approach to how she uses her voice.
Also, the addition of her keyboard has added some body to our live sound, as well as bringing creative input to the band’s instrumentation. Her ideas are adding more flavour to the music as our new material takes shape.
Thanks for the question, and we hope to see you in St. Catherines soon – Keep your eye on the site, as new tour dates are coming up…
Much Love,
MM
Saw you guys at the Troubadour earlier this year, and might I say that you are just as fantastic live, as on your albums. I’m fucking thrilled that you’re coming back to tour in August. I’m sure my girlfriend and I will be there.. So, yes, on to the question portion of my comment/question.. Who is the actual person that responds to these questions? Because, I always wonder if it’s like…an intern of sorts, or an actual member of the band.
It is us. Right now it’s me. A real live band member from Mother Mother responding. Kid you not. Good idea, though, an intern. Gonna have to look into that. Looking forward to being in your neck of the woods again. We wanna live in Los Angeles! Yeah, the one in South California. Rock on. Thanks for the support. 1/5>mm
Today was the first day that I have ever heard your music and to be honest i was inspired. I’ve been having a couple of real rough sorta days lately so I wanted to let you know that. Anyway I guess this is a question/answer forum, so I’ll ask a question. How long has the band been together?
Hey Keaton. The band has been together since 2005.
We are very happy to have made a new fan!
Was wanting to tell you how amazing your music is… love it so much. So freaking talented and raw. Awesome lyrics, deeply revealing and bare. Honest to the bones, with a sound to match. Want to know if you could add a lyrics page on here as i bought your albums through itunes and don’t get lyrics with that purchase. I can hear most all of them, but really would like to just have them in front of me for some of these songs. Thanks, and best to you all. Ruby. xo
Dear Ruby,
There is a link on this website to the lyrics to O My Heart, it is mothermothersite.com/album/
You can also get to it via our website if you click on “interact,” and then go to “view album” under the “virtual album” heading.
The lyrics to our first album are not currently posted, but you can find those on the internet if you google them. Hopefully we will have those up soon.
Thanks for your interest Ruby,
MM
What can I do to get you here in Charlotte North Carolina??? I love your music and its so different from what gets played here. We need you. Thanks.
Dear Randi,
Call in to your local radio stations and request us as much as possible! Tell all your friends and family about us, and generally just spread the word! The more people that start to do things like that in your area, the more likely we will be to get a booking in Charlotte on a U.S. tour. We would love to come to your town, there just has to be a demand for it…
Thanks for your question Randi,
MM
Will either of the girls marry me?
Hello Coleman,
Thank you for your question.
Never say never!
Love,
Jasmin and Molly
Will either of the girls marry me?
Your band was the main reason I bought tickets to the Rifflandia festival in Victoria, BC… but I never got to see you because the festival organizers grossly oversold wristbands. Myself and hundreds of other were turned away for your show. I know your opening for Matthew good here in November, but that show is also sold out. So my question is… Will you be doing a headlining tour anytime soon? And will you please come to Victoria? I heard many people in line say that your band was the reason they bought tickets to the festival and I`m positive you would see out here!!!
Hey Elicia,
We are so sorry you couldn’t get in to the Market Square show in Victoria. We know that happened to many people. Hopefully you made it to one of the free shows we did on Sunday night at Element/Sugar. The organizers of Rifflandia knew they had to make it up to people so they were kind enough to ask us to come back and of course we said yes! yes! yes!
I know the Vic show with Matt Good is sold out, but we are also playing in Duncan and Nanaimo on that tour and there are still tickets available for those shows if you’re willing to make the trip. They may sell out fast though, so please if you want to come, act quickly!
As for headlining in Victoria…of course we will soon, but we plan on recording a new record in the new year and won’t be able to tour again till the spring. Victoria will always be a stop for us on a headlining tour!
Thanks for your question Elicia,
hope you caught one of the added shows,
love MM
your music inspires me let ask you a fairy tale question what do u think of the music being put out today are you a fan of a lot of the new music, in regards to any genre, or are you disappointed there isn’t enough bands out there that release music that exudes a sense of artistic value. I find today most music is produced only to sell and be marketed. but you guys are really rare, refreshing, and true artists.
Hi Kim,
We indeed feel very disappointed in the world of music these days. The music industry has made being an artist become a very strange existence. Music is more business oriented now and the artistry becomes lost for the sake of image and/or selling records. It seems the days of spontaneous, beautiful and thoughtful music exists very seldom. It is a low down dirty shame that the masses like what they like, and buy what they buy, which is often just spoon fed to them by the industry suits, and media.
On the other hand there are many very cool bands and musicians making awesome music that is real and pure. If anything, the phoniness of the industry will only make musicians want to make even better music, and enlightened people will continue to buy great music.
Hopefully making and buying great music will become trendy and mainstream…
This is precisely why you must continue to support the bands that you love, and spread the word around to everyone you know!
Thanks again for your great question,
MM
Just wanted to say I saw you opening for Matthew Good in Kitchener. It was the first time I’d heard of you and was completely blown away. I bought your cd (and wanted to get it autographed but was too embarrassed!) and have been listening to it non-stop ever since. I’m completely smitten and can’t stop dancing around with a hairbrush to
Hi Mother Mother! This question is for Jeremy or maybe not so much a question but maybe he can tell us here in Southern Cal a little about himself. Maybe his musical influences, what year and make his bass and sax are. Is he always so quiet or maybe a little shy? He always seems to be in the shadows…is that his preference? He has lots of fans that he may not be aware of, so please write us a few lines. Love you Mother Mother…especially Jeremy!!!!
Well, hello. I guess Jeremy can tell you a LITTLE bit about himself… since you asked. He loves hockey, that’s for sure. Especially the Canucks. Follows them religiously, really. The other Mothers don’t get it, but that’s okay, to each their own, eh. He plays a 1978 Fender Precision bass and a 1957 Selmer MK VI tenor saxophone. His clarinet is a Selmer series 10G, even though you didn’t ask about that. As far as musical influences go, well, I suppose the biggies were/are The Beatles, Joy Division, 7 Seconds, pre black-album Metallica, including Garage Days, Fugazi, Nirvana, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Groverfur, John Coltrane, Nick Drake, Eric Dolphy, Ornette Coleman, and Ryan Guldemond, to name fifteen. He’s not exactly shy, but rather, a little reserved maybe? He really opens up when you get close. I like him.
Thanks for asking.
I just wanted to issue a MASSIVE thank you to the band for being so open and engaging with your fans. My sister and I saw your set at the NAC in Ottawa on Friday, and thought you were absolutely fantastic. It made our night that you guys took the time to talk to us and sign autographs, a lot of bands don’t make the time to take pictures and chat with their fans, and we were really grateful. My question is about your new songs, because we were totally convinced (and probably made utter fools of ourselves) that there was a new album out! So, apologies for being horribly awkward and uninformed, but IS there a new album, and if so, when is it out? Thanks guys!
Hi Katelynn,
Thank you for the kind words. The NAC was a spectacular venue, and that show was amongst the most enjoyable of the tour for us.
The next album is scheduled to begin recording in the first quarter of 2010, hopefully to be released in the fall.
We look forward to seeing you next time in Ottawa.
MM
Hi there, I was wondering if you know if I can get the O MY Heart CD anywhere in Prince George? Also wanted to say that it would be lovely to see you guys come here!
Thanks a ton and keep up the great music! ~*~Amber~*~
Hey Amber,
We sure hope you can get the CD in Prince George. If you can’t find it in stores, than definitely through iTunes or our on line store:
http://www.kt8merch.com/store/pages/4527/Mother.htm
Good luck on the search and thanks for your support.
MM
Hey Mother Mother, I have no question to ask, but I just saw you play last night (Nov. 9) in Vancouver and wanted to comment. Awesome show. I missed you guys when you played the Commodore Ballroom last year, which is such a great venue. I hope to be able to see you there sometime, or at another cool place in Vancouver or Victoria. I picked up a black fish v-neck shirt as well, though I hope in the future your wardrobe options expand to colours beyond purple. I’m aesthetically incompatible with Purple and Blue. Something Green! Green! O My Heart is a great album, and I’m gonna buy Touch Up tomorrow. Keep being good, as you’re pretty much the only band to get excited about nowadays.
Hey Simon,
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you made it out to the show. As for the colour spectrum, you’re probably right, we do need to expand our palette. OR you need to give purple and blue another try. They are fabby colours. How about you go purple n blue and we shimmy in some green and all is groovy on both sides. Deal?
Thanks for reaching out. Hope to see ya in Van or Vic.
Be well,
MM
Hi All, Such a unique sound! Such a talented group! Such great songs! You keep me company on many of my travels. A few questions. *How do you figure out where you’re going to tour/play? Strategic plan? Random cities? Invites? *Who does the driving while touring? *What is the weirdest thing you witnessed, encountered, experienced while on the road? (If you’re at liberty to divulge, anyway.) Merci! J’adore!
Hey Delia. In Canada, a rather large man with a rather large beard tells us where to play, and in the US, a pretty woman tells us where to play. It’s said to be strategic, yes. Lead vox and Bass Guitar drives mostly. Scarce liberty. Mercy. MM
Hi MoMo … does it annoy you in the slightest that The Veronicas have a song called
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your question.
Of course it highly annoys us that the Veronicas seemed to have stolen our name for their song and it’s not even about us! Who do these “Veronica” people think they are?? I do believe the song was written a long time ago by Tracy Bonham, so the Veronicas stole it from her AND forgot to mention our brilliance. We are truly upset about this horrible injustice and won’t stop until the words are changed to make us sound loved and adored!
love,
MM
Im totally pumped cause im coming to see you guys at the big time out. You guys are sick, and are personally my favorite band. I think i would die without your music. It really has been the sound track to my life the past few months. My question is do you ever feel weird when people totally obsessed with your music tell you about it? (p.s. if the answer is yes sorry for weirding you out)
One likes to be told one is good. That’s about it. Thanks for the support. See you there. MM
true story….last weekend my girlfriend lori & i took our 1964 volkswagen beetle (the same one we drove to denman island in september ‘08 to see MM play at the denman island community hall…great show, btw) on the 2009 spring thaw classic car adventure. the spring thaw is a 3 day, 1200km event that led 40 classic cars down some of the most amazing roads in bc, starting on the coast and weaving through the interior, carrying us on into the okanagan and finishing in hope. well, the car was running like a champ, we were having a gay old time and all was going splendidly well until about half way through day two. about 37 kms west of little fort, the fuel pump packed it in and the car was dead…motionless on the side of the highway. thankfully, a very friendly and courteous local couple pulled over and lent us some help and we limped the car into little fort where we waited for our spring thaw friends to bring us some spare parts so we could fix the car. during all this, lori & i had a chance to spend quite a few hours talking with our new friends from little fort and basking in the glory of the beauty of the surrounding landscapes. the couple were firm believers in the pay it forward philosophy, and lori & i could relate to that because that is how we choose to live our lives. do good things for others while not expecting anything in return…and ultimately good things will happen to you. our eyes, ears and minds also enjoyed the complete serenity of little fort. such a pretty little mountain village with so much peace and natural beauty. so, now, my question is this. do you think that little fort is some sort of paranormal vortex that seeks out cheery groups of adventurers and thrill seekers from vancouver and traps them for unpredicted amounts of time so that they can experience what they often desire and sometimes require…some solitude, peacefullness, a step away from
Sounds cosmic. Cosmic is a better time than coincidence. Thnx much for sharing your story. MM
Two part: When will you be going back to the studio to record more awesomeness ? Who snored the loudest or slept the most whilst touring across N. America ?
Hi Rich.
a) It looks like we’ll be recording new material in 2010. New songs are already taking shape and being experimented with in the live setting.
b) Nobody in the band snores, but Ali the drummer certainly sleeps the most.
Thanks for your questions,
MM
Will either of the girls marry me?
You guys sounded so tight at the Sonic Session in Edmonton a few weeks ago! We all still feel really blown away! So my brother in law, Arden, and I are have been arguing over the past couple weeks as to who would reign supreme in a fight between a Sumo wrestler and a Ninja. I say Ninja, he says Sumo. We are at ends about this. SO: In the event that a sly Ninja came across his arch enemy (said Sumo Wrestler) who would be the victor? Nathan
Hey,
Must be the ninja, yes? Bigger they come, harder they fall sorta thing… Plus they have one touch death techniques etc. Sumos just like to hug really hard. I would even venture so far as to say Mother Mother would come out on top in a battle to the end with said Sumo (bitch).
Thanks for the kind words and stimulating question.
Best,
Ryan
Ryan.
Molly, when do you make time for your art when on the road?
I would like to say that I am prolific with my artistic endeavors – painting, drawing, computing – while driving across the country with my band; however, this would be a lie. The art that I make while on the road is music and music alone… which is nice. That being said, everything that goes on while on tour helps to inspire new imagery that I readily use when at home.
Thanks for your question,
Molly
Hey guys – you’re totally wicked! Your music is so unique – the lyrics and melodies are absolutely brilliant. I was just wondering where you draw your inspiration from? Are there any artists in particular that you really like or aspire to? Thanks so much, and have a killer tour – can’t wait to see you in Duncan!!
Hey Alexa,
Thanks for your kind words. My name’s Ryan and I write the songs for Mother Mother. The inspiration for the songs seems elusive, but I’ll do my best to give an explanation. I place a lot of emphasis on melody so perhaps bands like The Beatles and The Beach Boys and 1950’s pop has had an influence. Pixies are my favorite rock band which is probably why many people liken Mother Mother’s sound to theirs. I appreciate the bent catchiness of their music and also the imagery driven and poetic abstraction to Frank Black’s lyrics. When I studied jazz and classical music in College I was exposed to chord progressions with greater complexity and I think that too made an impression on the songs I write for Mother Mother.
The Duncan show has been and gone so I hope you had a good time. I know we did. It was a great crowd so thank you for your contribution to that.
Be well. Take care,
Ryan
Hey guys. Just wanted to say how amazing you were in Calgary on the 15th. I had heard your song on the radio (Oh my heart) and well.. okay.. more then heard… it was one of those things that when your song came on, everyone at work was like “Omg turn it up! It’s Alanna’s favourite!” …It was catchy, it was different, it was unique and inspiring. Then I saw you at the show and was even more blown away! Not only do you all sound AMAZING live. You are so different, but in a very very good way! Just thought i’d let you know how impressed and amazed and inspired I was by your performance. I will definitely be getting your CD asap! (would have bought one at the show if I had brought along money! I also wanted to come out to see you guys and tell you in person how great you were.. but I was boxed in my numerous people and am too shy to ask them to move.). Anyways, since this is a question forum, I guess.. hmm.. since you are touring with Matthew Good, what song of his would you cover, and what song would you like HIM to cover of yours! Much love! <3
Hi Alanna,
Matt would probably do a very cool version of Sleep Awake.
As for what we would cover, perhaps The Future Is X-Rated would be a good one for us…
Thanks for your question – that was fun!
MM
Hey team, I just want to thank you all for crossing the ocean again to satisfy Victoria’s thirst for you and your music. I was lucky enough to attend all three Rifflandia shows and am amazed at how unique each one was. Thankyou for picking up on the mellow vibe at element, it was good to really hear you. BOY is the first song I connected with in a long time, it was playing in my head as I realized a 4 year relationship was ending. Since then I’ve found a lot from all your songs and thankyou for it. There’s something to be said for a band having a consistent writer. Do you have a strong feeling for your next album yet? Must be weird to have a contract to write. I hope you’re all having a restfull Monday. Love Chelsea
Dear Chelsea,
We are extremely fortunate that we have most of the material for the next record written already! Ryan is an extremely prolific songwriter, and the songs for the next record are currently being arranged by the band. It’s very exciting fleshing out this new body of work . We all believe it will be the best we’ve ever done. The band and the songwriting have grown and we can’t wait to share the evolution with the fans.
The “contract to write” thing doesn’t worry us too much, like I was expressing earlier to you…the material is abundant. I know many artists struggle with this type of thing so we feel very very lucky.
Thank you for your question, and for rocking out with us in Victoria!
Love,
MM
hey!! i just want to say you guys are amazing! i love all of your songs! All i can say is when you guys preform i believe it. Anyway my question is , what kind of music do you listen to and what bands are you guys fans of? One more thing, thank you so much for coming to Kingston! You rocked it
Please come back again!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you guys so much!!
Hi Rae,
We like a lot of different artists and musical styles, so it’s tough to narrow it down, but here is a selection that’s been on our band playlist of late:
Nina Simone
The Daredevil Christopher Wright
Yellow Jacket Avenger
Daniel Johnston
Radiohead
Portishead
Blonde Redhead
The Beatles
All the best,
MM
Hey, I’m the girl that played a couple of youur songs on the piano on youtube lol. this is more of a comment, but I noticed that a lot of your shows in the u.s. are for those 21 and over which is kind of disappointing because I would love to see you guys live! You guys have become one of my favorite bands because of your quirkiness and irresistible harmonies.
Hey Kellie!
So glad you reached out. We really loved your take on those tunes. Very sombre and melancholic. I also really enjoyed the straight and rigid nature you played the melodies atop the bass lines. It made it all the more sad feeling. I like sad music best…
Thanks so much for taking the time to interpret our songs like that.
We posted your video on our youTube Channel as well as our myspace.
As far as all ages shows go in the US, that time will come, but for now, we’re trying to build a consistent fan base in America and unfortunately the best and most direct way to do that, especially at the beginning, is in the bars.
Once we have more leverage in the States, we’ll be sure to incorporate All Ages shows into our touring plans.
Thanks for your patience and thanks again for your great musicianship!
Best,
Ryan
Hi ,this is Bill (aka…yo light dude)…. Thank you for bringing your art to our part of the world.Since you were here, myself as well as others have been slowly coming to reality from the haze you left us in. My mother said it changed her life! Matt and myself (both creative junkies) agreed that neither of us will ever be the same as far songwriting goes.I have always loved swimming outside the box..But.I never realized how deep the water could be………It affected me magically,ABSOLUTE BEAUTY GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH….this is ….a question forum….okey… Favorite band song live?? Be safe and live your dream!! thanks,Billy Golicki
Hey Billy,
Thanks for the kind words. We were so happy to have played in Cortland. We definitely hope to return.
As for favorite song to play live…. Well, it’s different for each of us so here is our individual responses:
Ryan: O My Heart
Molly: Hay Loft
Jasmin: Ghosting
Jeremy: Dirty Town
Ali: Touch Up
Be well,
Mother Mother
Hi Mother Mother, First of all I have to say the incumbent words of praise and how much I love your music and how I think you’re all remarkably unique and amazing (in sound and personality)!!! I saw you when you came to Victoria in February (I think…) and was blown away! Or rather, I fell in love! But one thing (of many) that I’m curious about is how you come up with songs. Is it an arduous process of sitting hunched over a guitar or keyboard or blank piece of paper trying to find some melody that satisfies? Or is it more the type of thing where a band member is walking down the street, sees two people holding hands or a wrecking ball tearing down a building, and is struck with sudden inspiration for a song? I’m sure it’s not one or the other primarily, but would you say one happens more often? Thanks again for putting on such a great show! Especially when you played an encore even though you looked so tired!!! I look forward to seeing you guys play at Rifflandia and hopefully meeting you again! Oh, and, if you’re feeling generous could you tell me who plays the violin (I think it’s a violin…), on Body? Love, Kathleen P.S. Ryan Guldemond, you make my heart melt.
Hey Kathleen,
Firstly, Rebeca Whitling played violin. She was also accompanied by a great Vancouver cellist named Peggy Lee. We were very lucky to have such fine musicians be a part of the recording.
Secondly, thanks for your appreciation of the music and the good review of the Victoria show. We quite like Victoria. Always an exciting time, with an ebullient crowd.
Thirdly, the songs start on a guitar (no paper) with some chords and a melody. Then the words start to appear. As they do, a theme emerges, followed by what can either be an easy or relatively painful search for meaning, metaphor, and catchy rhyme schemes. Once the house is built, then comes the finishing and decor.
Fourthly, thanks so much for writing.
We look forward to seeing you again.
Ryan.
How do you guys kick so much music ass? I have been listening to music for a long time and never in my wildest dreams could I even perceive the light you guys shine in my ear that makes it smile. How do you guys go about writing these things. Is it perhaps experiences or just pure fictional characters? P.S. I don’t like living in a dirty town either.
Hey Cade,
Wow thanks for the nice things said. More often than not, it feels like the music kicks our ass…
The lyrical element is highly metaphorical and fictional, but it’s my belief that our real experiences are the platform from which the imagination can take flight.
And often the meaning of a song is very elastic. For example, a fellow once was convinced that Dirty Town was about urban poverty, which it wasn’t, but after speaking with him, I was sure that it was.
Take care,
Ryan
I heard Wrecking Ball on Laura Ingraham this morning and thought I’d check you out. Very much dig that song! Crap. I just realized I need this to be in the form of a question…. When I heard Wrecking Ball on the radio this morning did it actually rock? (Rhetorical, because yes, indeed it did)
Hey Elliot,
We greatly respect and appreciate your rhetorical question. Thank you for loving wrecking ball, we love it too. It’s one of our personal fav’s to play live. Perhaps you can come check out a live show sometime soon? Check our myspace for tour dates in your neighborhood! myspace.com/mothermotherspace
Thank you again for your great question and support.

Just wanted to say you guys are the most refreshing thing that’s happened to music in a long time! The last time I remember feeling this way was in the eighties when I thought rock had died and then I heard ‘Come on Pilgrim’. When I heard ‘Body of Years’ on the radio, it reminded me of a similar vibe, and I wanted to hear more…WOW! The album is so much more! These days it seems to common to hear a quality song or two on an album and the rest uninteresting filler. This album from beginning to end challenges the listener and is pure ear candy. Nothing better than to hear talented musicians who have the chops and are fearless in their experimentation. I’m dying to hear the next record, which leads me to a question…with all of the touring, will this turn out to be a ‘road album’ in terms of writing? Also, what is your favorite environment to write in. Studio, alone at home, in a group setting, the road, etc.? Thanks for two incredible albums…looking forward to many more.
Hi Darren,
For Mother Mother, writing is not just a home or studio venture. The writing, arranging, and crafting of instrumental ideas seem to be happening everywhere – on the road, at home, in the hotel, the shower, the green room, etc. Some stuff was written on the road on this last tour, some songs were birthed on previous tours, and have been evolving ever since.
Therefore, the next album won’t really be a “road album” or a “home album”. It will be from a collection of places…
Thanks for your question,
MM
Mother Mother, I’m from a place very far away. A place so boring and dull yet I call it home, a place where many people outside of it doesn’t even know the state exists, a place called Arkansas. I recently left home on a ten day trip across the west coast. When I arrived in LA shortly into the trip, I visited Ammoeba records and randomly bought at least twenty CD’s that were marked down and put on the
Hello John A.
Thank you for being cool enough to buy CD’s out of a dollar bin, and thank the forces of nature for putting “Touch Up” in your hands. I too understand the feeling of listening to this record for the first time. My name is Jasmin and I am the most recent addition to Mother Mother. I was a huge fan of the band before I was lucky enough to convince them to let me in the band! I, like many others, was hit in the face with a metaphorical truck when I first listened to “Dirty Town.” I didn’t know what to do with myself when I first heard this music. It was both strange and wonderful in ways I had never known music to be before.
Now that I am in the band I am grateful every day that I get to perform such interesting, intelligent, fun, playful, dark and beautiful music. Thank you for seeing what I see in this music, and I hope we have made a fan for life. Check out our latest “O My Heart,” It is a different beast in many ways, but possesses all of the qualities of “Touch Up” in a different light… hope you can find the beauty in it as well.
Be well,
Jasmin and the MM crew
Recently saw your show with Matt Good. I loved your sound, very unusual. I’ll be looking for more! Thanks for touring such a small little town and attempting to keep us from becoming too reba mackintired…..
when are you guys going to write a techno song. I’d like that to happen as soon as possible, thanks.
Dear Joey.
We don’t know if we will ever write or put out a techno song, but any one of our songs could be made into a techno song by somebody crafty in the beat department. Perhaps there will be a MM album or song remixed someday? Time will tell….
Thank you for your question,
MM
Who and what are your musical influences? BTW you guys blew my mind last night at the Commodore. The music and lyrices, the vocals, the instrumentation, the friggin LIGHTS man!! the lighting was ART.
I find a lot of influence in mundane things, like old people crossing the street, or sad faces on public transit and distant lawn mowers buzzing away in the morning of hot days. A bored couple eating lunch, not talking. The idea of things more than personal accounts. As for direct musical influences, it’s hard to say. There have been some bands and songs in particular that have affected me greatly. Beatles, Zeppelin, Pixies. The music of the Blues made a large impact when I was young and somber piano music from the Romantic period is really nice. There was a few Joan Jett songs that blew me away when I was 8 or 9 years old and Everybody Hurts by REM was meaningful for a time. Talking Heads are great. I like plain and simple songwriters too like Gillian Welch, Mason Jennings, Elliot Smith, people like that. I don’t know how much it ties into Mother Mother’s music, but there it is anyhow. Glad you had a good time at the Commodore. Thanks for your interest and inquiry. Ryan.
why does band play such outrageous shit? any comment?
Feels good.
Would you say that music is a passion of yours?
Would you ask Tom Petty that?
You are fantastic. Love the harmonies – they must be challenging to do live! And the lyrics – so intelligent. My kids were singing Ghosting at Hallowe’en. The real subject of my Q – in my humble opinion, Wisdom would make a great tune for an iPod touch ad. But, before I send that suggestion, I want to make sure that you guys would be ok with it. I recognize that artists have an idea of who they are, and what they want their songs to be/represent. Let me know.
Hey Krista,
Thanks for reaching out with your kind words and question. We’re okay with you sending a request for Widsom to be used for an iPod touch ad. We all have iPods, so there isn’t much of a moral conundrum. Thanks a lot for checking in with us about it.
Be well,
MM
Your music has greatly inspired me, i was wondering what music or bands have inspired you to make the incredibly unique sound of Mother Mother ?
Hey Taylor,
I answered a similar question today, so if I may, let me use the same answer:
“…a lot of emphasis is placed on melody so perhaps bands like The Beatles and The Beach Boys and 1950’s pop has had an influence. Pixies are my favorite rock band which is probably why many people liken Mother Mother’s sound to theirs. I appreciate the bent catchiness of their music and also the imagery driven and poetic abstraction to Frank Black’s lyrics. When I studied jazz and classical music in College I was exposed to chord progressions with greater complexity and I think that too made an impression on the songs I write for Mother Mother” – Ryan
Other bands and artists that we like are:
Radiohead
Led Zepellin
Velvet Underground
Daniel Johnston
Gillian Welch
Lucinda Williams
Nick Drake
Cinematic Orchestra
Regina Spektor
Joan Jett
Talking Heads
Violent Femmes
The Breeders
Hope that helps….
Thanks for your question.
MM
Hey Mother Mother! I saw you for the first time in Vancouver last night and I LOVED your music! My question is, I found out that you are originally from Quadra Island, and I was just wondering if you guys went to Carihi as most of the Quadra kids do (I’m from Campbell River) If so, then we graduated from the same school, and that’s awesome! Either way, I’m super stoked that there is an awesome bad representing us Northern Islanders!
Hey Kaitlyn,
Thanks much for reaching out and for coming to the show in Vancouver.
Molly and I are the only Quadrites in the band and we both graduated highschool in Campbell River at Carihi, just like you. It’s a lil world ain’t it.
Thanks much for your support and keep the island pride alive. We’ll do the same.
Ryan
Alright, as bizarre as this may sound, I just watched a Sun-Rype commercial for Fruit to Go, and the singer made me think of Ryan immediately. Since Sun-Rype has used Canadian bands in the past, such as Said the Whale, I was wondering if Ryan had sung something for them.
How bizarre, how bizarre, ding ding ding, ding ding ding….
hi guys! just had a question about Ryan’s electric guitar. what type is it? i was thinking some japanese brand, looks like a teisco…
Hey there,
I’m not 100% sure what that guitar is, but I do know that it was a gift from my great uncle Rod who said a friend had given it to him.
I’ve had it looked at and the feeling is that it’s a Mosley Mosrite copy made in Japan by a anonymous manufacturer circa 1968.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hey guys! I really enjoyed your show on August 3rd with Sam Roberts and the Arkells. Every time I see you guys you always put on an amazing show and I enjoy seeing you time and time again. When are your new songs simply, eureka, and boy going on myspace because they were really awesome new songs and I would much like to hear them again? just so you know I really appreciate how you are willing to talk to your fans and I would like to thank you and the management for allowing me to use your music in my high school films. I look forward to seeing you soon! Cheers, Luke Galvani
Hey Luke!
Thank you for your question, and your wonderful fanship!
Simply Simple and Eureka are new songs we plan to record on our next album which won’t be out until sometime next year, so you’ll have to wait on those a while (sorry). I believe there is some youtube footage of both of those songs if you do a search for them. As for BOY… that actually stands for “Body of Years,” and that is already recorded on the OMYHEART album. It is also currently on our myspace to be enjoyed by you at any moment! While you are at it, you can check out the video for it as well, it is posted with our other videos on myspace. Or better yet…request it to be played on your local radio station ie: the peak 100.5 for Vancouver. The more requests we get, the cooler we feel!
Thanks again for your question and it is our pleasure to hang out with our fans. We hope to see you at the next show in Vancouver.
Love,
MM

Hey Guys… I’ve been a huge fan for a long time. You make music that is greatly contagious, and you are the best new band to emerge in a very very long time! I love EVERY single one of your songs…from both albums and beyond… and I am concerned that since you’ve recently had a member change (BTW Jasmine is fricken awesome!) that you won’t ever play any of what are some of my ALL TIME favorite songs off of the first album! ie: Angry Sea, Legs Away, Neighbour etc… So I guess I am asking if you could continue to through those in there every once in a while (especially in Tofino… or on the island anywhere really) Thanks for being rad, julie
Dear Julie!
Have no fear! We do still play all of those songs and incorporate many of the tunes off of “Touch Up” into our sets every night. Jasmin is well versed in the old as well as the new material. We will definitely be playing many old songs in our sets in Tofino and in Victoria, so we hope to see you there in the crowd singing along and rocking out with us.
Thank you for being such a great supporter of our band, we look forward to playing for you on the Island.
MM
p.s: Jasmin thinks you’re fricken awesome!
hi guys – stellar show in Winnipeg last night. I just need to know more about what came right after Wrecking Ball – wow, it was byootiful. you segued straight into what I thought was gonna be an extended vocal outro, but it turned out to be a song of its own that i didn’t recognize. what’s it called? will we see it recorded? thanks for everything.
That little tune doesn’t really have a name and it does act as an extended outro for Wrecking Ball. It was inspired by the “oohs” at the very end of the album version. Would love to record it. Or maybe just keep it as a special live thing. Could be more sacred that way. Thanks, MM.
Are you guys coming to St.John’s with Matt Good on the 5th of December? It says your name on the ticket, but there’s no mention of it on your website Thanks!
Hello Matt…
We are confused about our name being on your ticket. We are touring with Matthew Good for almost all of his dates in Nov and Dec, but the St. John’s one we couldn’t make unfortunately. Our name shouldn’t be on the ticket…we apologize for any confusion/disappointment this may have caused for you. Just check our tour dates on our myspace or continue to check our website. (myspace.com/mothermotherspace or mothermothersite.com) These will be the most accurate postings of our tour dates. We hope to see you at a future show!
MM
are you guys playing at the vancouver international jazz festival this year?
Hi Luke,
Unfortunately not. Jazz festivals usually don’t book the same bands for consecutive years, and we played several jazz festivals, including Vancouver, last year.
Thanks for your question,
MM
Are you playing eBar in Guelph On Oct 15th? They have you on their line-up, but can’t see any mention of it on the website. Last time you were through Guelph you put on an amazing show. Just got tickets to the Nov 30 kitchener show. Can’t wait!
Hello Ali,
Nothing is confirmed yet, but we are trying to make a Guelph show happen. Guelph has been awesome to us and we are excited about returning! Just keep checking our myspace and/or our website for an update on that show. If not this time around, then very soon…
Thanks for the question and your continued support for the band. We’ll see you in Kitchener!
MM
ca you please please please come to Quadra island or surrey soon!!!!! i love you guys, your my favourite band and me and my friends are dying to see you live. Every time you play a concert i always can’t go for some reason.
Hi Holly. No plans for Quadra or Surrey just now, but we are playing Cumberland on August 15th which is close to Quadra, and Deer Lake Park in Burnaby which is close to Surrey. Hope you make the trek. Thanks, MM.
Can you come back to ottawa soon! The Black Sheep rocked with you guys there
Yes. We will be playing at Ottawa Blues Fest on July 12. Hope to see you there.
Thanks for your question,
MM
could you please come to Sudbury?
Hey Amy,
We’re definitely due for a Sudbury return. We have nothing but fond memories of The Townhouse and town folk. We likely won’t get there this year, but rather in 2010. We’ll probably have a new album when we see you!
Can’t wait,
MM
Dear MOTHER MOTHER; Sorry no question, I just wanted to say that it was great to see, hear & meet you at The Ottawa Bluesfest. After 10 days of incredible & inspiring music, you guys & girls were certainly a CRUCIAL highlight for me. I would like to do a STORY / PROFILE on the band in the next month or so and add you to our CRUCIAL MUSIC & LINKS page…please check it out when u get the chance. Good luck with the rest of your Tour dates this summer!! Thanx again for the beers!! Keep It Crucial! Paul Benoit www.crucialmatters.com
Hey Paul. Thanks for the kind words and support. We look forward to the piece.
Beers,
MM
Hello, Have you any plans to tour in Europe? Dublin in Ireland particularly. I moved home here from Vancouver at christmas and actually left the night of your Album Launch so didn’t get to go to that and I have been listening to the two of them pretty much consistently since like October last year, they are defiitely two of the best albums i’ve bought in the last few years, they are just so fun. Cheers James
Hi James.
Thanks for the kind words. While we have a burning desire to tour Europe, there are no immediate plans to do so, and right now we are not sure when it will be feasible for us.
However, please do keep your eye on our website – you may be pleasantly surprised…
Thanks for your question,
MM
Hey guys! I’m A new fan of your work and randomly found you on youtube and I came upon Hayloft so I grabbed your album and LOVE IT. It’s constantly going in my car all the time. I’m super pumped to see you guys on The Moncton Tour Date! My Question is do you stick around and watch the show and get pics taken with fans/autographs? Just curious
Can’t wait to see you guys live, Heard you’re AWESOME!
Hey Ashely,
Thanks for your new found fanship. We do stick around after our set and meet and greet, sign and do pics etc. You’ll find us at the merch table 10-15 minutes after our last song.
Look forward to meeting you,
MM
hey guys, i was able to see you at port mansion in st. Catharine’s, ON,a couple years ago i thought you were awesome, glad i was able to tract you guys down since, huge fan now……..but my question is if you jazzy cats are going to make your way back down here sometime, hopefully in port dolhousie cause its the last year for any music scene or bar scene, thought it would be cool…….i understand your busy and it may have not been the biggest call at that venue….but if your even in southern ontario just write me back…thanks guys
Hi Matt,
There are plans forming at present for a tour that will definitely hit southern Ontario, and hopefully most of the rest of Canada, too. Right now, it seems that it might be happening before the end of 2009, however, no details are finalized as yet. Please keep your eye on the website for updates soon!
Thanks,
MM
Hey guys, some love from France. Hope you’ll play some shows in my country someday
I wanted to know how far you are from completing the next album and when we can expect to hear new material… Really looking forward to your next record, i absolutely loved the last one
Hope you’re doing good, keep rocking Ivan
Hey Ivan,
We would love to come to France and play, but we need an abundance of fans there before we can come. We have now made you personally responsible for spreading our music throughout France and for creating a great demand for us to come there!
As for the next record…we hope to be recording it in the early new year, and to release it before the summer of 2010. Keep your eyes on our myspace and website for any updates on this and don’t forget to spread the word to all your friends in France about us!
Thanks Ivan,
MM
Hey MM! I was pretty psyched to see you are opening for Matt Good and promptly set out to buy tickets – my question is will I be able to grab your cd at the show or should I try to hunt it down online? Thanks a bundle and keep being amazing <3
Hi Ben,
You can absolutely grab a CD at the Matt Good show. We will (as we always do) have merchandise set up in a designated area at the venue. Thank you for checking in and we sill see you at the show!
love,
MM
Hey MM, I’m a HUGE fan- I LOVE your music! I heard you were coming to Charlottetown PEI and instantly became very exxcited!! My only problem is that the show is liscenced. I would kill for a chance to see you!!, is there anyway this show can be open to someone like me?
Hi Morgan,
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to play an all ages show in Charlottetown this time around, and we are all very sorry that you couldn’t be accommodated at the one bar show that we did play there.
It is our sincere hope that as the band tours more and the profile grows, that we will be able to play all ages shows in most areas, as we do have a lot of fans that are not age of majority to whom we want to play.
In the meantime, we often play radio and TV spots to live audiences on tour during the day to promote the shows, and there is no minimum age limit on attending such events. Please keep your ear to the ground and your eye on the website, as we expect these opportunities to increase in number as time goes on.
Also, if you wish to be further updated about events concerning Mother Mother, please befriend us on Facebook and Myspace, and send an email to mothermotherfans@gmail.com requesting that you be put on the mailing list. You will receive a lot more announcements concerning such things that way, and hopefully next time out we will get to see you.
All the best,
MM
Hey mother mother, first I want to say that I’m a huge fan and I love what you guys are doing. Also, do you have any all ages shows planned for vancouver any time soon? Thanks, Bryn
Hey Bryn,
We don’t have anything set in stone right now for a show in Vancouver, but we can unofficially say that we will probably play in Vancouver sometime before the end of this year (Nov/Dec), and we hope to make it an all ages affair! Stay posted by checking our website or our myspace, where all our tour dates are available for your viewing pleasure.
myspace.com/mothermotherspace
Hope to see you at the show!
MM
Hey Mother Mother, Muahaha, I met you guys in person actually about four five years ago when you guys were still just MOTHER. (Yes, I’m from quadra) Your dad Casey is friends with my grandma, Lynn Conall. I don’t know if you guys remember me but anywayss… I just saw you guys last night at The Big Time Out and first let me say YOU ROCKED!!! Everyone I talked to was waaay more stoked for you guys than sam roberts even. I wish you would have done an encore we were all screaming for one. Anyways my question is, do you guys think you’ll make it back to Quadra in the fall sometime for another show?? HOPE YOU WILL, I LOVE YOU GUYS -Kat Zettler
Hey Kat,
Nice to hear from you. Thanks fro the kind words and being there for the BTO. That was a great show for us and it was nice to feel the Quadra pride in the air.
We are most definitely due for another show on said Quadra Island, but nothing is planned at the moment. Hopefully that will change in the not too distant future.
Take care.
Your fellow Quadrites,
Ryan and Molly
Hey, I’d just like to say my friend and I really love your music and we were so excited to see you guys were coming to Moncton, NB. Unfortunately, we’re too young to get in. Is there any way your younger fans could get a chance to see you? The closest concert you’re having is in Halifax and that’s all ages. But even that’s too far of a drive for us, please let me know. Thanks!
Hey Saige,
Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, we don’t have a solution to the underage problem on this particular tour, but we do think the East Coast is a mystical land of awe and wonder, one where we’ll return to again and again accommodating not only the some of age but the all of age.
We look forward to this time.
Be well,
MM
Hey, saw you guys at big time out & you blew me away, you’re great & i love your music…but why didn’t you sign anything
Are there any events near vancouver where you’ll sign stuff? what about rifflandia music fest in victoria, will you sign albums & such there? that would make me so happy…:) Much love & never stop, please <3
Hey Rashell,
We try and sign always. Perhaps at the BTO are stars just didn’t align because we were in fact signing stuff, but just not in a designated area. Sorry we weren’t able to connect that night. Let’s make it happen at Rifflandia. We’ll be there, sharpies in tow.
Thanks much for your support,
MM
Hi Guys!! Just saw you last thursday at Ed Fest in Edmonton — to tell you the truth i was going for our lady peace but LOVEDDDD YOU GUYS!!!! I was sad when your set was over. I think you may be too big to play at the venue i work at now. But a girl can hope…… You have a very distinct sound. Love the vocals…… keep producing great music and hopefully see you guys in Edmonton again soon!!
Hello Courtney,
Thanks for being a supportive audience member at the Edfest show the other day! We are extremely happy to have made a new fan, and can assure you we will be back in Edmonton very soon. No dates have been posted yet but we estimate in the fall/winter we’ll be coming your way! Please check out our myspace for all tour date info- myspace.com/mothermotherspace
Again, thank you for the support and we’ll see you in Edmonton!
Mother Mother
Hi You probably dont remember, but we met you last Ocober (2008) outside Le Petit Campus in Montreal, then later inside after your concert (part of Pop Montreal). We are from London , UK and asked you then about you coming over here to play…… We are still waiting!! Any plans to come to the UK? You would do really well here and having seen you a couple of times live (Vancouver Jazz Festival last summer as well as Montreal) we cant wait to see you again. We cant really come up with another excuse to visit Canada again ( maybe some christmas shopping later in the year could be a good excuse!!). Clare & Darren
Hey Clare and Darren,
I remember you guys well. Petis Campis, Montreal, we were loading our gear inside. You were the lovely couple with the great accents. And we took a picture.
Nice to hear from you both. Hope all is well in London.
Ah yes, the question of when are we ever going to tour Europe. Truth is I don’t know. But we will. Please stay patient over there.
Surely the wait will only make the event itself momentous.
We look forward to crossing paths you both again.
Be well,
Ryan
Hi, A local station in Edmonton (Sonic 102.9) has had your last two singles out in pretty heavy rotation. i just wanted to let you know I think you guys are really really good. i just picked up your album from iTunes to hear what the rest of Oh My Heart is all about. i can’t wait to listen to it. I was excited to hear you were coming through Edmonton but i was wondering if you guys were planning on doing any smaller shows as a main act? Any chance you’ll be coming through Edmonton again? I hope so and i hope your tour with Matt Good is successful)
Hi Chris,
Thank you so much for picking up our record, we hope you enjoy the other tunes on it as much as you like the stuff you’ve heard on the radio. Sonic 102.9 has been really great to us and we appreciate all their support.
We will definitely be coming to Edmonton very soon, we plan to record an album in the new year and will be touring Canada extensively after that. Edmonton will definitely be a stop for us.
Take care.
MM
I just saw you for the first time Nov. 25 in london, ontario. You opened for Matt Good. I was blown away by your musical sound, your awesome vocal harmonies. i was immediately a fan. The songs body of years, and Hayloft really moved me. I was actually wondering if you planned on coming back to ontario anytime soon? I will see you live again in a heartbeat. Thank you for delivering such great talent to my ears and heart.
Hi Anastasia
While nothing is confirmed as yet, we will likely be back in Ontario next summer playing at various festivals. Please do keep coming back to the website for updates.
All the best,
MM
I LOVE LOVE your music , I spent six months looking for your new C D . I almost had a grand Mal Sesure when I found it .You guys KICK ASS and how long is your cumberland show ?

On behalf of all of us at Lucky’s in Cortland, NY…We sincerely thank you for your kindness, artistry and overall coolness; On a night that became one of our greatest events of all time. We all wish you the best of luck as you continue in your travels and creation…This is something we find to be rare–a band who not only reaches the masses with every song, but who also conveys humility and personality to those who are so grateful and impressed with what you do. Once again…We will be watching! Sincerely, Katie Sheridan and Matt Barnes Cortland, NY PS: My question is…How much wine did I really drink that night??? (Lots.)
Hey Katie…
Thanks again for the amazing treatment and enriching experience that was Lucky’s in Cortland, NY. Everyone from the staff to attendees were nothing short of world class.
Definitely a highlight on this tour.
And for all the wine you may have imbibed that evening, your composure and elegance was well intact, if not staggering.
Hope to do it again,
Ryan, Molly, Jasmin, Jeremy and Ali
Please come to St.John’ Newfoundland in the new year when you guys do your OWN tour. I will personally take you to George Street http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Street,_St._John%27s and show you how to party Newfoundland style. Hell, you can even get screeched in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newfoundland_Screech Hope to see you in our neck of the woods sometime soon Love and Truth Kurt
Hey Kurt,
Thanks for the invite. That sounds like a good time. We just need to make it to St. Johns at some point in our life time. We are working on it.
Wait for us. Love and Truth.
MM
We saw you guys play at Ed Fest last night in Edmonton. You guys are amazing!!! Show was great!! Thanks!!! Keep it up!! Amy
Thanks Amy! MM
what are the odds that a citizen of Nashville, Tennessee, US, will ever get a chance to see you guys live? I promise, there are more than a few dedicated fans who would kill for the chance. It would be worth the trip!
Hey Ashley,
The odds are favourable cuz we would love to visit Nashville. Unfortunately, there are no plans to head that far south just yet. Having said that, opportunities arise often and unexpectedly so keep posted to our site. You never know.
Thanks for the love!
MM
when are you guys going to be in toronto again? I’ve be dying to see you guys live.
Hi Sarah!
Thank you for your question, we hope to be coming to Toronto ASAP! There are no confirmed dates yet for our fall/winter touring, but we will definitely be stopping either in or near Toronto before the end of this year. We will expect you at our show!
See you soon,
MM
when will you come to the u.s and when can we see you in texas?
Hey Pau,
Thanks for reaching out. It seems we have another album to make before touring a lot in the US again, but you can be sure both things will happen in the not too distant future. And when they do, Texas will be a part of it.
Take care,
MM
Wow! i found ‘O My Heart’ for a dollar in a random store, and bought it on a whim. Wow! You guys are truly awesome, i’m introducing you guys to my friends and their loving you too! very addicting. Plan on touring in the U.S. anytime soon? We’re in Colorado, and well, you have 3 new fans for sure!

Hi Cass,
We will likely tour the US again in the fall of 2010.
See you there!
